A trichologist is a specialist trained specifically in the science of hair and scalp health — diagnosing and treating conditions like hair thinning, hair loss, and scalp disorders. Rather than just addressing symptoms, a trichologist looks for the underlying cause, whether it's hormonal, genetic, nutritional, or inflammatory. Brandy is certified through the World Trichology Society (WTS), one of the most respected credentialing bodies in the field.
-
Dermatologists are medical doctors trained broadly across all skin, hair, and nail conditions, while a trichologist's training is focused entirely on hair and scalp health. That specialization means Brandy brings deep, hands-on expertise in spotting subtle patterns of thinning and scalp issues that a general dermatology visit may not have time to fully explore. Many patients find the two complementary — Brandy's own decade at Camelback Dermatology shapes how she works alongside dermatologic care rather than in place of it.

Yes. Brandy offers hair checks both in person at NHLMA's Scottsdale office and virtually for patients throughout Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Tempe, and the surrounding Greater Phoenix area. Virtual visits include the same detailed intake and personalized review of your hair and scalp history, so expert trichology care is accessible no matter where you're located.
-
Your first hair check is a 60-minute, one-on-one evaluation focused on getting to the root of what's happening with your hair and scalp. Brandy will walk through a detailed intake, a scalp analysis under a microscope, and a review of any relevant symptoms, labs, or prior test results — then leave you with clear, personalized product and treatment recommendations and a plan for what's next.
