Our Four-Part Approach to Hair Restoration
01.
Stabilize - Stop Further Hair Loss
The most important step in any hair loss journey is stopping further loss before it progresses. Our stabilization treatments are designed to slow follicle miniaturization and protect the hair you still have — creating a strong foundation for everything that follows.
02.
Grow – Encourage Regrowth
Once your hair is stabilized, we focus on biological regrowth. Our growth treatments work at the follicle level to strengthen roots, improve density, and encourage thicker, healthier hair over time.

03.
Nourish - Treat The Internal Root Causes
Hair loss often starts from within. Our nourishment approach identifies the internal root causes — hormonal imbalances, nutritional gaps, systemic factors — and treats them directly, so your hair growth cycle is supported from the inside out.

Conceal – Look Your Best While You Treat
You don't have to wait for results to feel confident. Our cosmetic conceal options let you look and feel your best from day one, right alongside your treatment plan.

Non-Surgical vs. a Hair Transplant: Which is right for you?
A hair transplant surgically moves follicles from the back of the scalp to thinning areas. It can be effective, but it is a surgical procedure — with cost, recovery, and the need for enough healthy donor hair.
Non-surgical hair restoration takes a different path: it works to preserve and strengthen the hair you still have and to support regrowth, without surgery, incisions, or downtime. For many people, especially those with early to moderate thinning, diffuse loss, or female-pattern hair loss, non-surgical treatment is the more appropriate first step, and it is often used to optimize the scalp before, or instead of, surgery.
We'll be candid: if your goals genuinely require a transplant, we'll say so and help you prepare for one. But most patients have more non-surgical options than they realize, and starting them earlier protects more of the hair they have.
Our approach is simple. Optimize first, then consider transplant.
Your First Visit & How A Plan Comes Together
Your first visit is a complimentary hair specialist or trichologist consultation. We start by listening to your goals and history, then, where useful, examine the scalp and review or order labs to find the underlying cause of your hair loss rather than guessing.
From there we map a staged plan: stabilize first to protect the hair you have, then add growth treatments, supported by addressing any internal contributors such as thyroid or nutritional factors. We explain the evidence and the realistic timeline for each option, including which treatments are FDA-approved and which are newer and investigational, so you can choose with clear expectations. Plans are then reviewed and adjusted over time as your hair responds; this is ongoing care, not a one-time fix.
Care is overseen by Mary Montes, DNP, our prescriber, and includes evaluation by a World Trichology Society–certified trichologist. Plans are tailored to your evaluation, not a template, we're candid about what each treatment can and cannot do, and we serve patients from across Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area.\

How We Find The Cause
Effective treatment starts with an accurate diagnosis, not guesswork. Depending on your situation we use a magnified scalp examination, comprehensive lab work, a hair follicle test, and genetic testing to identify what's actually driving your hair loss — whether that's androgenetic (pattern) loss, a hormonal or thyroid factor, low iron, a nutritional gap, or a stress-related shed (telogen effluvium). Pinpointing the cause is what lets us match the plan to you rather than applying the same protocol to everyone.
Who Is A Candidate?
Most adults with thinning or pattern hair loss who still have active follicles are candidates for non-surgical hair restoration, and earlier treatment generally produces better results because there is more hair to preserve. We treat both men and women, and you can explore the different types of hair loss for each here. The right combination depends on the cause and stage of your loss, which is why we begin with an evaluation rather than a fixed package.
No Surgery, Minimal Downtime
Because our treatments are non-surgical, there are no incisions, no stitches, and little to no recovery time — most patients return to their normal day right away. That is a meaningful difference from surgical restoration, and it's part of why a layered non-surgical plan is a practical option to begin now rather than later.
Why Choose NHLMA in Scottsdale
Our hair loss specialists offer different paths forward depending on your needs and underlying health issues: one focused on cosmetic solutions and education, the other on clinical evaluation and root-cause diagnosis.

Safety & Candidacy Notes
Each treatment has its own candidacy and contraindications, covered on its page. In general, tell us if you have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners, have an active scalp infection or inflammatory scalp condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are undergoing certain medical treatments — these affect which options are appropriate. Some treatments (such as exosome and stem-cell therapies) are not FDA-approved for hair loss; we explain the evidence and regulatory status for each so you can make an informed decision.
